The Nantucket Islands Land Bank is requesting proposals for the short-term licensing of agricultural land (comprised of approximately 7 acres, or a portion thereof) to individuals or organizations on its Mount Vernon Farm property located at 160 Hummock Pond Road. The purpose of this license is to maximize utilization of this farmland for community benefit during the 2022 growing season. Permission for temporary infrastructure to facilitate agricultural activities may be granted as a component of the license agreement but no permanent structures (fencing, well, storage facilities, etc.) will be permitted.
Proposals will be accepted on a rolling basis beginning May 23, 2022. Proposals should not exceed one page, including any figures, and should include a brief description of the planned agricultural activity and previous farming experience. Further information may be requested from applicants as needed. Approved licenses may commence on or after June 1, 2022 and shall terminate no later than December 31, 2022. Questions and proposals may be directed to Director of Environmental and Agricultural Resources, Rachael Freeman, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
